Belarusian Forest Company JSC concluded the first exchange transaction in the Republic of Belarus for the supply of sawn timber to the Arab Republic of Egypt. In March the first container of domestic sawn timber produced by Mogilevdrev JSC will be sent to the Egyptian company Sama Al-Jazeera for Import and Export. The transaction was concluded while trading at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange JSC on March 2, 2021.
We are sure that this is only the beginning of a long way to go, as according to Mahmoud Kandil, CEO of Sama Al-Jazeera for Import and Export, the strategic goal of his company is to become the largest importer of Belarusian timber products to Egypt and in perspective to other North African countries (Note: source: BUCE).
We would like to note that Belarusian Forest Company JSC already has the experience of cooperation on OTC goods with Egyptian companies. In 2018-2020, more than 4 thousand cubic meters of plywood were delivered to Egypt, also there is the experience of supplying MDF.
